Position Description

The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures at the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences is seeking a Publication Assistant.


The Publication assistant will provide editorial and business support for the International Institute of Ibero American literature and the three journals of the Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures; Revista Iberoamericana, Variaciones Borges and Bolivian Studies Journal. This position may require some domestic and international travel for conferences.


The Dietrich School is committed to building a culturally diverse staff.


The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and in Spanish. Portuguese and Italian is desired but not required. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a larger team of internal and external scholars. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required. Must be able to take initiative and follow through with assigned projects. Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years administrative experience preferred.

Adequate oral and written command of English and Spanish, capacity to write letters and maintain correspondence in multiple languages, knowledge of established procedures for maintaining files of various kinds including Web Page and social media sites.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
