Description

Purpose:
The Laboratory of Neurocognitive Development, in the Department of Psychiatry, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) pursues research using multimodal neuroimaging (fMRI, DTI, MEG, and PET) to characterize neurocognitive developmental specialization during the adolescent transition from childhood to adulthood. On-going studies focus on normative cognitive development as well as atypical development such as in schizophrenia and substance use. Current research focuses on the delineation of brain circuitry underlying higher-order cognition including networks for voluntary response suppression and spatial working memory.
The research specialist will be responsible for daily interaction with research subject(s) on various on-going projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment and scheduling of subject participants, coordination of testing to include administration of cognitive research tools, assist with monitoring of data collection, management, and analysis, and act as a liaison between the PI and other departmental collaborators interested the on-going research project(s).
Standard hours are either 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm, or 9am-5:30pm, with flexibility to accommodate research subject schedule(s) for scanning
This position is grant funded.
Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s). Collect and gather research data for research project.Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.
Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree required, preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology or related research field.
Minimum of one (1)year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
Experience in working with teenage participants is a plus.
fMRI experience is highly valued, but not a mandatory requirement
Familiarity with comptuers and common software packages required.
Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.

Act 34 Criminal Clearance with Renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance
