Purpose: The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The Staff APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The Staff APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication and collaboration with all team members. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes. Responsibilities: o Administer medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines o Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health). o Determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and develops treatment options. o Document patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics o Educate patients regarding health and illness prevention. Recommend community resources to meet patient and family needs. o Initiate and/or completes all administrative tasks and acquires all necessary information, instructions or materials. o Instruct patient/family regarding medications and treatments o Make rounds at nursing homes and hospitals o Participate in activities that contribute to education and research, including precepting students. o Perform complete physical exams, obtain complete medical history, monitor therapies, give injections and medications, and record findings. Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Document patient information and care provided in patient record and maintain statistics. o Perform minor procedures and assists in surgery, as directed by physician and as defined in written agreement. o Perform procedures as directed by physician and/or as directed by written agreement o Perform within the scope of the agreement o Provide acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications. o Provide continuity of patient care in collaboration with other health care professionals o Triage patient telephone calls and provide consultation. Initiate or complete administrative tasks and acquire all necessary information, instructions, and materials as required.
